Indian playback singer, in a career spanning 40 years, he received the National Award (1977) for ‘Kya Hua Tera Wada’, six Filmfare Awards and the Padma Shri (1967). His singing style and songs continue to be copied to this day.
MG Ramachandran

Binayak Sen gets Life for Sedition

Indian air force pilot (No 1 Sqd), flying a Mystere IVa fighter bomber he chose to attack a F-104 Starfighter over Sargodha Airfield in Pakistan and eventually destroyed it (Sep 1965). He was belatedly awarded Maha Vir Chakra (P) in 1988.
Flt Lt Harita Kaur Deol
Death: 25 Dec 1996 in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India
Indian air force pilot (IAF: 1993), she was the first qualified woman pilot of the Indian Air Force (on 02 Sep 1994), but died in an Avro air crash near Dubagunta , due ‘Wing Fatigue’ (1996), during a ferry flight from Chennai to Hyderabad.
Jordanian Plane Down in Syria

(Syria) A Jordanian F-16 operating with the US-led coalition, crashed while attacking IS militants. The pilot, Flt Lt Yousef al-Kaseasbeh was captured alive, and the militants scored a propaganda coup, before burning him alive (03 Jan).
